So let's have a brief introduction about the Writer and the play.

This play “The Purpose’’ is written by very famous and well-known playwright T. P. Kailasam. His full name is "Thyagaraja Paramasiva Kailasam". He was born in 1884 and died in 1946 in Banglore. He was a playwright and prominent writer of Kannada literature. He was Tamil. He had a good education, he studied geology in London. Then he joined government geology service, he also wrote play and also worked in local theater. He spent 10 years in place he called ' Nook' it was dirty place, but Kailasam wrote many plays in there. He wrote plays like

1) The Burden (1933)

2) Fulfillment (1933)

3) The Purpose (1944)

4)Karna : The Brahmin's Curse (1940)

5) Keechak(1949)

He wrote in English also. He was considered as “The father of modern kannada drama”, he also known as “The father of humorous plays” and known as “One and only Kailasam for Kannda”. Although all his theme and characters are mythological yet their treatment and delineation are strictly according to his vision, mission and imagination.

We study about "Indian writing in English" to Indian writer like T.P. Kailasam. He was written at different and post colonial thinks in portrayed Ekalavya character.

The Purpose by T. P. Kailasam is a drama and divided into two acts. The story is based on Adiparva from ‘The Mahabharata”. As we see that in the story how Kailasam given margin and criticize to Arjun and Dhrona Characters. The story moves around Ekalavya and Arjun and their purpose behind learning archery. Both want to learn archery from the great Dronacharya. But we see post colonial thinks in Ekalavya characters are center and periphery to Ajuna’s character. When the story goes on the ancient time that's only kshatriyas can learn from Guru Dronacharya no one can earn the VIDHYA. Eklavya was the Nishada boy and the Arjuna was belong from royal family and son of the king.

Let's start the post Activities....

1.) Compare and Contrast Arjun and Eklavya's Character.

When we are comparing the both characters there's very first point comes in mind that both are craving for learn the Archery from guru Dronacharya.

There's only a one major difference between both pupil's goal but it's make a huge controversy.

This play is based on the Mahabharta. In the Mahabharta there's protagonist is a Arjuna but hers it's vice versa. Because T.p.kailasam wants to raise voice of Eklavya.
Eklavya wanted to learn good archery because he tries to save deer in forest. And Arjuna's aim to learn Archery....

"To ATTAIN FAME AS AN,           ARCHER!  NO MORE!”

So Guruji told Arjuna that...

“IT IS NO LESS A THING THAN CONCENTRATION! AN ABSOLUTELYTRA NECESSARY ELEMENT TO ONE'S PROGRESS IN ANY STUDY”.

At that time Eklavya listens and try to understand this word and try to speak,

“CON.....CEN.....TRA.....TION”

And then he said Drona that Guruji I wanted to learn archery,

“I HAVE TRIED HARD EVER SO HAED, SIR, TO LEREN BY MYSELF....BUT IT DOES SEEM NOT POSSIBLE, SIR TO LEARN ALL BY ONE'S OUR SELF.”

Drona always used word for Eklavya that
 “MY LITTLE MAN”

Drona asked Eklavya, who are you? And he said that I am Nishaada boy, at that time Guruji said that

“I LOVE ALL LITTLE MEN OF ALL CASTES ALIKE”

But I gave promised to Arjuna that he would make him the greatest archer in the world and we find some dialogue between Arjuna and Eklavya,

Arjuna: - “AN ARYA IS AN ARYA! AND A NISHAADA IS ONLY A LOW- BORN NISHAADA!”

Eklavya: - “PRIDE IN ONE'S CASTE MORE THAN IN ONE'S POWER TO DO GOOD.”

Arjuna: - “I DO NOT LIKE YOU! I DISLIKE YOU! VERY MUCH!

Eklavya: - “HATE IS ONLY ANOTHER NAME FOR FEAR”

So, we find hear that how beautifully T.P.Kailasam's show that class and class conflict, in more deeply because of Eklavya was a Nishaada boy and that's why Drona can't accept Eklavya as a pupil.

In the second Act Drona and Arjuna one day see that Eklavya became a good archer.

2)The Subaltern in this play? Explain with examples..) What is Subaltern? Who do you think is

Mining of " Subaltern "

It refers to the populations that are socially, politically and geographically outside of the hegemonic power structure of the colony and of the colonial homeland. As intellectual discourse the concept of the subaltern is problematic because it originated as a Eurocentric method of historical enquiry for Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The term “Subaltern” is used in the fields of history, anthropology, sociology, human geography and literary criticism.

Class conflict:-

In postcolonial theory the term Subaltern describes the lower class people and who are at the margins of a society. We find that many people are subaltern and many cast also in our India.

Parihas and Tribal people are also marginalized or subaltern.

Subaltern in purpose:-

In the Purpose we find that Eklavya from low caste, he was Nishada boy and Arjuna was King's boy, prince and he was Arya. So Eklavya can't study Archery from Guru Dronacharya, because he was Nishada boy. At that time only high class or King's sons learn archery, and Drona was Guru only Arjuna not any other. So we can say that Nishada is Subaltern cast or group of people and Eklavya was as a Subaltern person. Even his purpose to learn archery is good and he was smart than Arjuna yet he cannot became great archer because of his caste. He learned archery by himself, yet he compromised with Arjuna as a cost of Gurudakshina and lost his thumb it's not only lost his thumb but lost his archery also.

3.)Write your views about Education system in India with reference to Past and Present time.

Meaning: According to some learned people, the word "Education" has been derived from the Latin term "Educatum" which means the act of teaching or training. ... By educating an individual we attempt to give him some desirable knowledge, understanding, skills, interests, attitudes and critical 'thinking.

True education is beyond earning degrees it is more than bookish knowledge. Education means inculcating moral values, positive thinking, attitude of helping, attitude of giving to society and ethical values these kind of students are only able to bring changes in society.

In the ancient times there was a GURUKULS and not a study like a particular standard vise. There is a Different types of learning Vidhya and stay in Aasharam with guruji. When child turns around 10 years old (may b) perents went to the guruji and If Guruji gives Paramision to stay there then it can be done.

There was a rule like the Guruji can only teach the sons of the king and the Brahmins.

Other lower cast can't took the vidhya.

As time went on there was a some differences can clearly shows with the education.

Present Time:-

"Digital System" Occupied the education system.
And in the present time there is a crease of only education. Without education in impossible to stay or live between societies.

The education departments are trying to make more "SMART EDUCATION SYSTEM". But in originally there is vere Stressful system.

There is a smart system for learning with projecter, Google classroom, earphones, Internet, cellphones, laptops, Tablet. This elements are more necessary for the learners.

But corruption plays an important role in education and because of that the poor children can't take a proper education.
Yes the Indian Government is always try to make easy to get education and make most of the things in low coast. Government always try to give " ΰͺાΰͺ° ΰͺ΅ΰͺ—ΰͺ° ΰͺ¨ું ΰͺΰͺ£ΰͺ€ΰͺ° " And try to remove" ΰͺšોΰͺͺΰͺ‘ીΰͺ―ું ΰͺœ્ΰͺžાΰͺ¨ "

Give a scholarship to the scholar students and a more help for SC ST and OBC students.
"SAMRAS" hostels are also available for up down students and villagers students.

Recently government fall out the Yojana for PHD students. (Modi ji and Amit bhai shah)

:- 1500 rs stipend per month to PHD students for quality research

:- 20,000 per year for incidental expenses
:- Total 2 lakh rupees a year and 4 lakh rupees at the end of two years.
And now days ther's no differences between cast  or uper class and lower cast.

4) Is Dronacharya an ideal teacher? If yes, then how? and If No, then Why? Explain with examples.

True Guru is God in form. The true Guru is beyond words. There is no definition for Guru.

No,Dronacharya is not as an ideal guru because guru is a reflective personality and for guru there is no differences between students. And here Dronacharya makes the differences so he is not an ideal guru.
Because on this earth there is a similar chance for all the students to get education and you are a teacher then your duty is to study all the pupils equally. Otherwise you are not appear properly on your right way.

5.)Write something about your experience like Eklavya or Arjuna with any teacher during your study phase till now. (Not necessary to mention any name)

Not in a now a days but at that time when I'm in Higher section of school. I saw and i also fill the corruption with me also.

Teachers and some students are so irritated because teacher like only few selected students like differences between hostel girls and school girls and I'm just hate them nonsense for all the things and just ignoring them all the times because i don't have any option i can't raise the voice in front of them because the point of view all the person's are different that's why. And I'm also not going to mention the school name and teacher's also.

Thank you 😊
