Structuralism

Hello Reader,

So today's I'm going to discuss about Structuralism....and also a part of academic activity so...let's start....click here to read the activity blog. Which is given by Dr. Dilip Barad.

       Structuralism is an approach to analyzing the narrative material by examining the underlying invariant structure. 

     There are many structuralist critics like Ferdinand Saussure, Gerard Genette, Roland Barthes, Claude Levi-Strauss. Structuralist critics found basic common structures in a many kind of work. As all the human beings have a same structure from inside, similarly literature have a basic structure and it's a same everywhere.... whether it movies, Tv serials or advertisement.

       So here being a Structuralist I'm going to analysis some examples....

There are two types of methodology used by critics for study of language.

1.Diachronic

2.Synchronic

            Diachronic and Synchronicare two different viewpoints in linguistic analysis. A synchronic approach considers a language at a moment in a time without taking its history into account, Synchronic linguistics aims at describing a language at a specific point of time,usually the present.

Languge = Langue + Parole

In simple way....Languge means the entire human potential for speech,Langue....means the system that each of us uses to generate discourse.

which is intelligible to others and Parole is individual utterance.

Sign = Signifier + Signified

Sign is anything that coveys the message, signifier give meaning in word or image and signified is related with mental concept, what evokes in the mind.

Example: Cow-sign, four lagged animal-signifier...religious belief as ગાય માતા signified.

Genette also gave the concept of narratology. Mainly the five concepts were used by Genette in Narrative Discourse: An Essay in Method.

1. Order

2. Frequency

3. Duration

4. Voice

5. Mood

1) Order :- 

 Arranged chronologically the event or a scene in a simple language can we say dived into 3 parts...like A1, B2, C3....A1(Discovery) B2 (FlashBack) C3 (Resolution)....

So here's I'm going to gave a one example according to this method "Order" It occur these whole A1 B2 C3....

    So this series starts with superstitions.... A story is about two sisters. As we add a method Order...there's A1 is about sisters cause both are separated after a death of her mother and both are tiny...બંને પાસે શકિત હતી. જે બંને ને તેની માતા પાસેથી મળેલી હતી જ્યારે તેની માતા પ્રેગ્નેટ હતી ત્યારે તેના એક ગુરુએ તેની માતા ને આશીર્વાદ રૂપે આ શક્તિ આપી.આશીર્વાદ રૂપે આપવા પાછળનું કારણ...ગુરુ ની પાછળ એક પિશાચીની નામની ડાયન પડી હતી. એ ડાયન ને ગુરુની શક્તિ જોતી હતી. એ ડાયન પહેલેથી જ બે રત્નો મેળવી ચુકી હતી અને હવે ત્રીજા રત્ન માટે એ ગુરુ સાથે લડતી હતી. બહેનો દિવ્યા અને દ્રષ્ટિ પાસે ભવિષ્ય જોવાની અને તેની ચાલાકી કરવાની દૈવી શક્તિ છે પરંતુ તે દુષ્ટ ચૂડેલ, પિશાચિનીથી અલગ થઈ જાય છે. 

 જો કે, તેઓ ફરી ભેગા થઈને ચૂડેલનો નાશ કરે છે. SO HERE A1 IS USED TO FINDING THE રત્ન AND SISTERS FINDING EACH OTHER CAUSE BOTH ARE SEPARATED. 

B2 used જ્યારે પણ બંને બહેનો મુસીબત માં હોય છે ત્યારે તેની માતા ના ગુરુ ના એક શિષ્ય જે હંમેશા તેની સાથે જ રહેતા તેમને આખી વાતની જાણ હતી. તેથી તેઓ જ્યારે પણ બન્ને બહેનોને મદદની જરૂર હોય ત્યારે  તેઓ આવતા અને flashback જે બન્યું હતું તેની માતા સાથે તેની વાત કરતા. This flashback happen many times in a series as well.

C4 used Resolution એ વાતનો થતું દિવ્યા કરતા દ્રષ્ટિ મોટી હતી આથી હંમેશા દ્રષ્ટિ નું જ કહ્યું માનતી અને બંને બહેનો પાસે દેવી શક્તિ હતી આથી બંને એકબીજાનું સારું-ખરાબ જોઈ શકતી હતી.

2) Frequency :-

The separation between an event and its narration allows several possibilities. 

There's a  Frequency of mr. Shergill's marriage. Drishti works at Shergill House and get job as a PA (Personal assistant) of mr. Shergill. First he decided to marry with his friend...force fully by his mother occur with superstitions. Then he decided to marry with Divya again occur with superstitions by her mother that...your astrology says to marry with a girl named "D" And refused to marry with his friend Lavniya. Again occur with superstitions and Divya can see the very future through her Devine power that's why she marry with mr. Shergill witj Hideaway no one knows that who is braid. 

3) Duration :-

       The separation between an event and its narration means that there is discourse time and narrative time. These are the two main elements of duration.

This whole serie occur with the superstitions and also with divine perspective. Series about passed few decades. 

4) Voice :-

Voice is concerned with who narrates, and from where. This can be split four ways.

Yes the whole series about two sisters and occur with superstitions.

5) Mood :- 

Genette said narrative mood is dependent on the 'distance' and 'perspective' of the narrator, and like music, narrative mood has predominant patterns. It is related to voice.

Distance of the narrator changes with narrated speech, transposed speech and reported speech.

Perspective of the narrator is called focalization. Narratives can be non-focalized, internally focalized or externally focalized.
