Edward Said on 'Orientalism'

 Hello Readers,

Today i am  going to share my views Regarding ORIENTALISM....So, let's get start.

Task blog <- is here......

So, let's start with the meaning or a brief overview....

WHAT IS ORIANTALISM ?

Orientalism is a book written by Edward Said. He emphasized on the two worlds, Orient and the Occident. Orient represent the Eastern countries. In art history, literature and cultural studiesOrientalism is the imitation or depiction of aspects in the Eastern world. These depictions are usually done by writers, designers, and artists from the West. In particular, Orientalist painting, depicting more specifically "the Middle East", was one of the many specialisms of 19th-century academic art, and the literature of Western countries took a similar interest in Oriental themes.

Let's have  glimpse on  some information about EDWARD SAID.

Let's briefly discus about the interview of EDWARD SAID.

In this video the subject is ORIANTALISM and explained by Sut Jhally and Edward said him self.  Orientalism is study of mindset .  Edward's that It's not only mentioned about sheer study of middle east but also there are used for the further knowledge. In particular Said's 1978 book, Orientalism, will be regarded as profoundly significant. Orientalism revolutionized the study of the Middle East and helped to create and shape entire new fields of study such as Post-Colonial theory as well influencing disciplines as diverse as English, History, Anthropology, Political Science and Cultural Studies. The central argument of Orientalism is that the way that we acquire this knowledge is not innocent or objective but the end result of a process that reflects certain interests.

Said's interest in Orientalism began for two reasons, one it was an immediate thing, that is to say, the Arab-Israeli War of 1973.
And the second one, which has a much longer history in my own life was the constant sort of disparity I felt between what my experience of being an Arab was, and the representations of that that one saw in art.
